Going Camping?

If you’re planning on going camping, you should know it’s not the best scenario for a girl trying to look her best, but, unfortunately many men find camping to be a great way to move a relationship forward. If he doesn’t think of camping as the four seasons, here are some ideas for you:

  1. Click Here To Buy Viva Towels

Kleenex makes a paper towel called “VIVA” that is incredibly durable. If you are going to be out in the wilderness more than a day or so, they make a great washcloth because they are disposable abundant and cheap. They also make a great paper towel.

  2. Boots are a great piece of footwear to bring because you’ll likely be doing a lot of walking, and potentially riding ATV’s, Bikes, etc. A good pair of boots should keep your feet warm and allow you the mobility you need to get things done.
  3. Bruschetta

While beans and hot dogs may be typical camping food, don’t feel obligated to have to eat this stuff. If you’re camping in a relatively cold weather client you can make Bruschetta. Simply buy some french bread, pico de gallo, and cheese. Then, you can optionally roast the bread over the fire to make toast, and serve up a healthy snack for everyone that’s really quick and easy to make.

  4. Layers are key when you’re camping because you’ll have less protection from the elements. Wearing several layers will allow you to be comfortable no matter what the temperature. If you’re unworried about how you’ll be perceived, consider making a snuggy your final layer to keep you warm at night.

    Don't Fling Marshmallows On Fire!

  5. Last but not least, a can of Dry shampoo can help keep your hair looking it’s best. Also, if you’re going to be sleeping next to your handsome beau, you should consider using some of it on him as well so he doesn’t grease up your pillow with all his man sweat. For best results, consider a spritzing variety of dry shampoo rather than an aerosol one. The spritzing variety is less susceptible to extreme temperatures.
  6. If you can swing it, consider packing travel sized versions of all your favorite toiletries. Sometimes a little mouthwash or deodorant can go a long way in the wilderness when you’re trying to woo a handsome cowboy.

Got A New Years Resolution? Let Dry Shampoo Help.

Got a goal for this year?

With the hustles and bustle of everyday living, sometimes it gets difficult to fit everything you need to do into one 24 hour period. After all, you need to sleep at least 7 or 8 of those 24 hours. If you have a full time job, you have to work at least 8 more hours out of that 24-hour time frame. People have been searching, and making new years resolutions for ways to make better use of their days and dry shampoo is one way to do just that. By using dry shampoo to wash your hair, you can add at least 20-30 minutes to your extra time in a day.

The two types of dry shampoo are spray shampoo and powder shampoo. While they work in some of the same ways, there are different dry shampoo tips for each type. The following paragraphs will provide tips for both.

For spray in types of dry shampoo, the application process is fairly simple. First you will need to be sure you shake the can very well. Then holding the spray nozzle 6 to 8 inches from your hair, start to lightly spray your hair along the roots and scalp. You need to make sure that you get an even coat on your hair. If you have used a lot of hair spray then this should be easy for you. Once this is done you only have to wait two minutes then brush and style your hair as usual.

The powder type of dry shampoo comes with similar application instructions. Lightly sprinkle the dry shampoo powder along the roots of your hair, and use your fingertips to rub it into your scalp. You need to make sure with this type that you do get it rubbed in well to your scalp so it can absorb the oils. Unlike the spray in type of shampoo with the powder form of dry shampoo, you can immediately brush and style your hair after application.

Using powder or spray in shampoo is great for people who tend to live life on the run. We can all get so consumed in our lives that we need to make more time in the day. Using dry shampoo can be a great way to accomplish this.

Dry Shampoo For Oily Hair

Alegmarin Dry shampoo

Best Dry Shampoo For Oily Hair

If you’re one of the millions of people who worry that their hair looks greasy because they have oily roots, you’re definitely not alone. There are those of us who can wash their hair every day and still  have oily roots — blame genetics, but blame yourself if you don’t have the tools to fix it.

Many people ask, “What’s the best Dry Shampoo For Oily Hair??” Though, this really isn’t the right question to ask. Dry Shampoo of all kinds does a really good job at removing oil and revitalizing your hair. The real question, what kind of dry shampoo is going to work with your hair type. If you have really dark hair, you’re going to want to find something that doesn’t leave a lot of residue, or is easy to comb out. This quality is going to make sure you can use enough of it to handle the oil and still not be visible after you use it. After all, a little shine is going to be preferable to a lot of excess shampoo or the dreaded “skunk” look where you have a white stripe running down the crown of your head.

That said, there are many dry shampoos, but the reviews at Amazon suggest that Alegmarin Dry Shampoo is the best for people with oily hair. One reviewer writes:

This is a good, basic dry shampoo. My teenage daughter, who has very fine hair that tends to get oily pretty quickly, uses it regularly as a quick touch up and it works quickly and well to give her hair a clean, fuller look. My only slight objection is that it has a distinct aroma — not a bad one, but a noticable perfumy smell. But it’s not a bad one, and if you are looking for a dry shampoo this is the best one I have found.

Blow Faux Dry Shampoo Review

Blow Faux Dry Shampoo

$13.50 at Amazon. Click Here

New to the dry shampoo fray is “Blow Faux Dry Shampoo”. This shampoo is more expensive than competing brands, but it has received rave reviews. Some of the complaints that many other dry shampoos suffer from are can malfunctions, and product evaporation. This leaves useless product in the bottle, or product leaving the bottle without getting to your hair.

Also, another benefit is that this product is awesome for people who are sensitive to fragrances. This product cleans, but has almost no smell or fragrance. It’s great if you have a sensitive sniffer.

Blow describes the product as:

This dry shampoo dramatically transforms limp locks with Blow’s exclusive pure protein blend of amaranth, lupine and wheat. The perfect solution for the fashionable girl on the go, Faux Dry cleanses hair, absorbs excess oil with micronized corn starch and instantly volumizes at the roots without weighing down locks. Unlike other dry shampoos, Faux Dry won’t leave behind a powdery residue or make a mess, thanks to its exclusive fool-proof application. Whether you overslept or simply need a style freshen-upper, Blow’s Faux Dry is to the rescue.Never tested on animals. Free of sulfates, parabens and artificial fillers. 2.4 oz

Tresemme Fresh Start Dry Shampoo Shows Up On Australia’s Next Top Model

If you’ve been on the fence about whether dry shampoo is the real deal or just some passing fad that baristas have dubbed relevant because it means they don’t have to shower before they go to work, and have a ton of extra coffee grounds to play with, you’re wrong.

In season 6 of Australia’s next top model, Australian hair stylist and Tresemme sponsored hair stylist (You have to be pretty gosh darned good for a company to sponsor you as their official stylist) Joh Bailey uses dry shampoo in Season 6 to help one contestant come out looking refreshed after just a couple minutes back stage.

The product he used, of course, was Tresemme Fresh Start. Primped.com.au describes it as, “Super stylist Joh Bailey used this exact product to create all the wonderful ‘dos on the amazingly pretty Australia’s Next Top Model finalists in this year’s season final. (Yep, the one where that epic muddle-up occurred.) It gave him the volume, texture and grit he needed, as well as eliminated the need for the old bathroom basin.”

At $7.00 for 7 ounces, it’s significantly cheaper than almost every other dry shampoo on the market right now, and it’s made by one of the biggest brands in fashion. It might be worth trying out. Have you already tried it? Let us know what you think in the comments.

Kevin Murphy Dry Shampoo Review

One of my girlfriends had her stylist recommend to her a new dry shampoo by Kevin Murphy called “Fresh Hair Dry Cleaning Spray”. It’s an organic dry shampoo that seems to work exceptionally well. Here are the things we really liked about it:

  • Smells exceptional
  • Simple. Spray in, towel out.
  • Use as a maintenance product, or a styling product.

As a dry shampoo, this stuff worked exceptionally well. The key is to use sparingly. It’s not an all over product, but something to revitalize your roots and remove any sheen near your scalp. Pros in the industry call the effect “mattifying”. Below is Kevin himself explaining how to use this product. If you have this, or used it, we’d like to hear from you! Please leave a comment letting us know what YOU think.

How To Make Your Own Dry Shampoo

How to Make Your Own Dry Shampoo

If you’re looking for a way to avoid washing your hair everyday with harsh cleansers and shampoo that can dry out and damage your hair, then you might try making your own homemade dry shampoo.

There are many different ingredients you can use to to make a great dry shampoo, but most people have the most success with a mix of flour, corn meal, oatmeal, cornstarch baby power, or talcum powder. Don’t be intimidated, we have some tried and true recipes.

Dry Shampoo with Oatmeal

Oatmeal is one of the best materials to start making dry shampoo with. You can start with 2 tablespoons of oatmeal as a quick pick me up, but if you’re going to be mixing up a larger batch you may want to include some baking soda in your mix. Use one part oatmeal and one part baking soda, and mix well. The oatmeal is great at handling oil and dirt while baking soda deodorizes.

Cornmeal/cornstarch Dry Shampoo

If you have oily hair, this dry shampoo blend is great for that. Take one tablespoon of salt, and mix with half of a cup of cornmeal. Mix them well. Alternatively, you can mix one part finely ground almond with one part oatmeal or cornmeal. This combination is a great way to keep your hair from being weighed down. Do make sure you don’t have any tree nut allergies before using this blend.

Talcum Powder and Clay as Dry Shampoo

One of the best absorbers of grease and grime is dry clay. You can buy it in several varieties like white clay, and green clay. This becomes the base ingredient for this blend of dry shampoo. In addition to the clay, you can add powdered milk, or baking soda. Many people report that their hair has a shiny luster after using powdered milk.

Pro Tips

  • For fragrance, add a few drops of your favorite essential oil.
  • If you have dark hair, you might want a quick blow dry to get all the white remnants out of your haier.
  • If you have really dark hair, you might think about substituting cocoa powder so it’s less visible.
  • Less is more, use your home made dry shampoo in conjunction with a good regular shampoo.

Dry Shampoo Tutorial

Oscar Blandi, hair stylist to the stars, goes over the basics of dry shampoo, as well as some extra secret pro tips. He even goes so far as to say it is not necessary to brush out, you can leave it in as long as it’s not visible. Also, if you’re having a hard time hitting your hair line, you can do as he does and spray your hand to apply directly to your roots at the hair line. This is a great tip because that’s a high visibility area.
